Stop Fighting Your Technology. Start Running Your Business.
When your server goes down at 8 a.m. on a Monday, or your office Wi-Fi drops out mid-client call, you're not thinking about IT strategy — you're thinking about how much this is going to cost you in lost time and frustration. Nerds on Call has been helping small businesses across Indianapolis, Carmel, Fishers, Zionsville, Noblesville, Westfield, Brownsburg, Avon, Plainfield, Greenwood, and the surrounding Central Indiana area get ahead of exactly those moments since 1995.
We're not a faceless help desk in another time zone. We're your neighbors, and we've spent more than 30 years translating technology into plain English for business owners and office managers who have better things to worry about than patch schedules and firewall logs.

Reactive IT Is Quietly Costing You
Most small businesses operate in one of two modes: everything works fine, so nobody thinks about IT, or something breaks and everyone stops working while you scramble to find help. Neither mode is a strategy.
Think about the last time a slow computer, a failed backup, or an email outage interrupted your team's day. Someone called around for help, waited for a callback, and then paid an emergency rate to fix something that probably could have been caught weeks earlier. That's the reactive cycle — and it's expensive in ways that don't always show up on a single invoice.
The real cost isn't just the repair bill. It's the hour your office manager spent troubleshooting instead of serving customers, the client proposal that went out late, and the quiet anxiety of not knowing whether your data is actually being backed up.
Managed IT services exist to break that cycle. Instead of waiting for something to fail, we monitor your systems continuously, handle maintenance on a schedule, and make sure small problems get resolved before they become emergencies.
How Our Managed IT Plans Work
Getting started doesn't require a long procurement process or a week of disruption. We keep it straightforward.
Step 1: Assess What You Have
We start with an onboarding check of your existing environment — your workstations, laptops, servers, network equipment, and the software your team depends on every day. We install our remote management tools during this process, and we schedule it to avoid interrupting your workday.
Step 2: Build a Plan Around Your Business
No two businesses are the same. A five-person accounting firm in Carmel has different needs than a 20-person distribution company in Plainfield. Your monthly plan is built around your specific number of users, devices, servers, network equipment, and support priorities — not a generic package pulled off a shelf.
Step 3: Manage, Monitor, and Improve
Once your plan is active, we handle the ongoing work: monitoring, maintenance, security patching, and remote support for day-to-day issues. As your business changes — you hire people, move offices, add equipment — your plan adjusts with you. What Your Monthly Plan Covers — and What It Doesn't
This is worth being clear about, because it matters for how you budget and plan.
What's included in your monthly plan: Remote support for day-to-day issues, proactive 24/7 monitoring of servers and network equipment, server health management, OS and security updates, data backup monitoring, workstation and laptop maintenance, malware protection, network and Wi-Fi management, and peripheral connectivity support. Everything described in the sections above.
What's handled separately: Physical, on-site visits — such as dealing with a hardware failure, moving equipment to a new office, or setting up new devices — are billed hourly. Project work, like deploying a new server or migrating to a different platform, falls outside the monthly scope and is quoted separately.
This distinction keeps your monthly cost predictable. You're not paying a premium every month to cover the possibility of a major hardware failure. When physical work is needed, we handle it at an agreed hourly rate, and you know exactly what you're getting.
Local, Hourly On-Site Support When You Need It
Some things can't be fixed remotely. A failed hard drive, a new workstation that needs to be set up at a desk, or a network closet that needs physical attention — these require someone on-site with tools in hand.
When that happens, you call us and we come to you. Our technicians serve businesses throughout the Indianapolis metro area, including Zionsville, Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, Westfield, Brownsburg, Avon, Plainfield, Greenwood, and surrounding communities. On-site work is billed hourly and scoped clearly before we start, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
IT Consulting and Planning for What's Next
Beyond day-to-day support, small businesses often need a thinking partner for technology decisions. Should you replace aging workstations now or next quarter? Is your current internet connection adequate for the way your team works? What should you consider before moving a critical application to the cloud?
We've been having these conversations with Central Indiana business owners for more than 30 years. We don't push products or steer you toward solutions that benefit us more than you. We give you a straight read on your options, explain the trade-offs in plain language, and help you make decisions that fit your budget and your business goals.
Consulting and planning work is handled separately from your monthly managed services plan, quoted based on scope and complexity.
Understanding Your Plan: Tailored to Your Business
Your monthly plan price reflects the actual scope of what we're managing. We account for the number of users on your team, the workstations and laptops in use, whether you have on-site servers, the complexity of your network equipment, and your specific support priorities.
A business with two employees and a single server has a very different support footprint than one with 25 employees, multiple locations, and a mix of Windows and Mac workstations. Pricing reflects that reality. We'll walk you through exactly what's included in your plan before you sign anything.
Frequently Asked Questions
Your monthly plan covers everything that can be handled remotely — day-to-day support calls, proactive monitoring, maintenance, patching, and backups. When something requires a technician to physically come to your office, that work is billed hourly. We're clear about this distinction upfront so you can budget accordingly.
We structure plans on a monthly basis. We'd rather keep your business because the service is worth it than because you're locked in. Talk to us about the specific terms during your consultation.
Onboarding starts with a check of your current environment and the installation of our remote management tools. We schedule this work to avoid interrupting your business day — typically outside peak hours or at a time that works for your team.
The 24/7 monitoring is for your servers and network equipment. Our system watches for problems around the clock and alerts us when something needs attention. Remote support for your team's day-to-day questions is handled during our normal business hours. ###
Project work falls outside the monthly plan scope. We're happy to handle it, and we'll give you a clear quote based on what's involved. Many of our managed services clients also work with us on projects as their business grows or changes. ###
That depends on how much time you're currently spending on IT problems and how much a few hours of downtime costs your business. Businesses with as few as three or four employees often find that a monthly plan pays for itself quickly when they stop paying emergency rates for reactive fixes and stop losing productive hours to technical problems their team was never equipped to handle.
Let's Build a Practical IT Plan for Your Business
If your current approach to IT is "wait until something breaks," we can do better than that together. A conversation with our team costs you nothing, and you'll come away with a clear picture of what your technology actually needs — no pressure, no jargon.
Or call us directly to talk through your situation. We're based in Central Indiana, we know the businesses in this area, and we've been doing this work since 1995. We'd be glad to help.
